In den Umbau der Teilstrecken I und II der Dachstein-Krippensteinbahn werden vor allem Dank der Unterstützung von LH Josef Pühringer und Landesrat Josef Ackerl rund 10 Millionen Euro investiert.
Das Projekt umfasst neue Stützen und Tragseile auf einer Länge von rund 4 Km und einer Höhendifferenz von etwa 1.500 m, sowie Umbau der Tal- und Bergstationen. Neben den Antriebssystemen werden auch die Kabinen auf neuestem Stand der Technik von der Firma Carvatech Karosserie & Kabinenbau in Oberweis produziert. Für rund 0,8 Millionen Euro werden 4 Stück im Aluminiumleichtbau hergestellt. Die zukünftigen Gäste können sich bereits auf die große Verglasung und das Fassungsvermögen von 60 Personen freuen.

Starting at Obertraun, the Dachstein-Krippenstein cable car provides access to the high Alpine Krippenstein area located at an altitude of 2000 m and more. This is where a small but fine or even dynamite ski area awaits! Those who tend to be less concerned by attacking the slopes and prefer a more relaxed approach may choose for the comfortable and slow-speed rustic mountain lodges or for gliding down on the wide nursery slope. Those who head for a sporting challenge may venture the 11km of downhill run, well groomed and with snow guaranteed. And finally venturesome spirits may push their limits and feel the freedom when attacking a total of 30 km of off-piste.
